Jonathan Benjamin Whatley, 40 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found trafficking drugs during the execution of a search warrant following him running from police last October.
This week, while executing the warrant at his home at 205 Watters Street, officers found over 28 grams of meth packaged in multiples baggies. They also allegedly located cocaine, scales and drug packaging materials.
Police said that on October 20th, Whatley drove at a high rate of speed through a residential area putting citizens at risk. Whatley proceeded to run stop signs and passed other vehicles in no passing zones while on the wrong side of the roadway. He then proceeded to jump from his car and escape on foot.
Whatley is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth with intent to distribute, trafficking meth, possession of marijuana, distribution of marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of drug related objects, obstruction, attempting to elude police, improper passing, stop sign violation, and reckless driving.
