A convicted felon, Devin Jon Malik Ervin, 28 of Rome, was jailed this week after being found with drugs and a stolen gun after fleeing from a roadblock on 2nd Avenue back in 2020.

Police said that while chasing Ervin, he failed to maintain his lane and ran a red light.

After eventually crashing on South Broad Street when he hit two light poles and a retaining wall he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers added Ervin was found to have been under the influence of marijuana.

A search then resulted in police finding a stolen Smith and Wesson 9MM handgun, nine bags of marijuana, ecstasy and two sets of digital scales in his vehicle.

Ervin had been on the run for the last three years and was listed on the county’s” “most wanted” list.  He was found at 15 Clark Avenue, Apart 7 this week by a Floyd County Deputy.

Ervins is charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, two counts possession/distribution of marijuana, possession of drug related objects, obstruction, DUI, attempting to elude police, failure to obey traffic control devices, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and a seat belt violation.
