Devon Franklin Jones, 52 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found with a large amount of cocaine during a traffic stop on Cartersville Highway at the East Rome Bypass.

Officers said that Jones was pulled over after they observed him sitting at a green light and not progressing though several cycles.

Police added that when they pulled Jones over they observed several open containers of alcohol inside his vehicle.

A further search then resulted in officers finding cocaine, over $1,300 in cash, and a handgun within reach.

Jones then fought with officers by refusing to exit his car and continued to disobey orders when they took him to a local hospital for clearing.

Jones is charged with DUI, failure to obey traffic control devices, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, obstruction,  open container, and probation violation.
