Shane Lee Stokes, 51 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he reached for a weapon while they were attempting to place him in handcuffs.
Officers added that this was after Stokes was found to be in possession of four clear bags that contained suspected methamphetamine and heroin after arriving at the jail.
Stokes is charged with two counts of possession of a schedule II-controlled substance, two counts of obstruction of a police officer, crossing the guard line with drugs and two counts of failure to appear.
