Alejandro Serrano, 26 of Rome, was arrested this week after attacking a homeowner while he was burglarizing their property.
Police said that Serrano broke a lock on an outside building when he was then found insude by the resident inside. When the victim confronted Serrano he struck her with his shoulder as he exited the building. An altercation then ensued in which the victim suffered broken fingernails and an injured hand.
The incident occurred at a home on Antioch Road last Friday.
Serrano is charged with second degree burglary, criminal trespass and battery.
