Rockmart High School will be the one NWGA high school football team to compete for a state championship in football this week

The Yellow Jackets will face the Pierce County Bears at 1pm on Tuesday for the GHSA Class AA state championship.

Rockmart has won 11 straight games and brings its 12-2 record to face the

Rockmart’s two losses came against Dalton and cross-county foe Cedartown. Pierce is 13-1 with its lone loss coming against Appling County in late September.

This will mark Rockmart’s second state championship game in five years under head coach Biff Parson.   The last time they played for the state title was in 2019 against Heard County when they lost 27-6.

Polk County District has canceled all classes for Tuesday so that anyone in Cedartown or Rockmart can go and watch the game.
