Mykel Steve Ely, 42 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he caused an auto accident at the East Rome Walmart and then fled the scene.
Reports added that witnesses and surveillance cameras helped identify Ely, who was driving in violation of his driving permit.
The accident resulted in damage being done to a guardrail.
Ely is charged with hit and run, failure to maintain lane and violation of conditions of limited driving permit.
