About a month ago, in October 2023, Gordon County Sheriff’s detectives received information from a neighboring jurisdiction regarding the distribution of methamphetamine in the Sonoraville community. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) quickly identified the primary offender, who was well known to them, and began covert surveillance as well as pursuing other leads. After gathering sufficient evidence over an approximate 4 week period, the detectives obtained a search warrant for the offender’s home at 742 Erwin Hill Road. Wednesday morning (November 15), DEU detectives and other deputy sheriffs executed the search warrant.

The offender, Jason Allen Bagley, age 43, of 742 Erwin Hill Road, was arrested on the scene without incident. Pursuant to the search warrant, deputies seized methamphetamine, Schedule II and Schedule IV narcotics, materials for the packaging and resale of illegal drugs, and an assortment of illegally-held firearms including a sawed-off shotgun and other physical evidence indicative of the illegal alteration of firearms (i.e. manufacture of sawed-off shotguns). Bagley was (re) jailed and charged with: Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Schedule II and IV Narcotics, and a host of weapons violations. He is in custody at the time of this publication. A review of Gordon County Jail and Circuit Superior Court records revealed:

Bagley had been arrested by Gordon County deputy sheriffs here on August 14, 2022 for Trafficking in Methamphetamine, other lesser drug related offenses, traffic-related violations, and offenses involving the illegal possession of firearms. He was released on December 14, 2022 on $200,000.00  bond set by Superior Court.  Gordon County Superior Court case number 2022417564. The case is still pending.

Bagley was arrested by Gordon County deputy sheriffs here on May 26, 2021 for Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Distribute, Possession of Schedule I and Schedule IV drugs, multiple counts of the illegal possession of firearms. He was released on June 19, 2021 on $100,000.00 bond set by Superior Court. Gordon County Superior Court case number CR33643. The case is still pending.

Bagley entered a guilty plea and was convicted in Bartow County Superior on November 7, 2012 of Possession of Firearms by a Convicted Felon, Bartow County Superior Court case number 12-1445.

Bagley entered a guilty plea and was convicted in Bartow County Superior Court on March 12, 2013 of Possession of Methamphetamine, Bartow County Superior Court case number 13-427.

Bagley entered a guilty plea and was convicted in Gordon County Superior Court on December 1, 2004 of DUI, Possession of Marijuana and traffic offenses, Bartow County Superior Court case number 16606.

Bagley entered a guilty plea and was convicted in Bartow County Superior Court  on October 15, 2002 of Possession of Methamphetamine, Bartow County Superior Court case number 02CR-1324.

Bagley entered a guilty plea and was convicted in Gordon County Superior Court on May 15, 2002 of Possession of Methamphetamine and Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Gordon County Superior Court case number CR 14730.

Bagley entered a guilty plea and was convicted in Bartow County Superior Court on March 12, 2022 of Battery and Possession of Methamphetamine, Bartow County Superior Court case number 01-1340.

On Wednesday afternoon, November 16th, bond for Bagley was denied by the Gordon County Magistrate Court.

Sheriff Ralston said, “Sadly, this type of repeat offender is not uncommon. Is it frustrating? Of course, but it doesn’t diminish our commitment to keeping our community safe from drug traffickers and violent criminals. I want to commend the members of my staff who worked on these important cases, and also to thank our colleagues in Bartow County with whom we collaborate often. I have full faith in our local judicial system, and I know this offender will be dealt with appropriately.”
