The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the inmate found deceased in his cell on Saturday was that of Brandon Keith White, a 43-year-old male, boarder from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
White was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Cruelty to a Person 65 years old or older, and Battery.

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Floyd County jail staff discovered an inmate unresponsive in his cell. Jail staff initiated lifesaving efforts and he was transported to a local hospital. Ultimately, jail staff and hospital personnel were unsuccessful in their lifesaving efforts.
As standard procedure, the GBI has been contacted to conduct an investigation.
To maintain agency transparency additional information will be released once next of kin has been notified.
