Arthur Dennie Champion, 69 of Rome, was arrested this week after a report said he was found illegally in possession of a gun.
Police said that they found Champion in possession of a Titan Tiger 38 special revolver at a home on Cole Road.
Champion, a convicted felon, is not allowed to legally possess a firearm.
Champion is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
