Harold Crowder and Steve Jones are set to be inducted into the Model High School Sports Hall of Fame tomorrow night, September 29,  at 7 p.m. prior to the Model vs. Rockmart game. 

Harold Crowder is a 1973 graduate and participated in football, basketball and baseball. During his senior year, he was voted Most Athletic and served as the football team captain, while also earning the MVP accolade. Crowder was a part of the Region Champion baseball team in 1971. 

During the 1972 football season, Crowder amassed 1,086 rushing yards and 788 passing yards for the team that won the sub-region championship. Crowder was named “ Rome News Tribune Offensive Player of the Week” four times in a ten week period and ultimately garnered “Rome News Tribune Offensive Player of the Year” honor for the 1972 season. 

After graduation, Crowder served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Harold says that his success in football would not have been possible without the awesome faMily he had at Model. He had the support of his teammates, his coaches, the cheerleaders, the band, the fans, his teachers and his family. He is thankful to be a part of the amazing community we have at Model and that he gets to watch it continue through his children and grandchildren.

Steve Jones was a 1966 graduate and played both basketball and baseball at Model. He served as captain for baseball and was deemed MVP of the 1965 team that went on to win a region championship and was the state runner-up. Jones had a career pitching record of 34-8 and threw three career no-hitters. Upon graduation, Jones served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War.
