The Rome Police Department has launched an investigation into a reported armed robbery at the Redmond Food Mart at 1389 Redmond Circle on Monday.
Reports said that early Monday the store clerk had closed the store for restocking when an older woman knocked on the door and asked to use the restroom.
The clerk told authorities that he allowed the woman in and failed to lock the door behind her.
Several minutes went by when a white male entered the store and brandished a handgun and demanded money.
The robber took cash, two cellphones and a work tablet before exiting.
Police are using security footage to help identify the suspect(s).
