The Floyd County Elections Board voted unanimously Tuesday to change the voting precinct map.  

The move consolidates the number of locations where citizens in both the City and County vote.

The proposal:

Armuchee will merge with Texas Valley, creating “New Armuchee”. 

Vann’s Valley will merge with Barkers creating “South Floyd”. 

North Rome will merge with Riverside to create “North Rome”.

Mount Alto South and Alto Park will merge to form “South Rome”.

West Lindale and East Lindale will combine to form one “Lindale”.  One exception would be that an eastern park of the old East Lindale will merge with the East Rome precinct.  

County voters in the Berry Forest area alongside city voters on U.S. 27 north of the loop will now be part of the Glenwood precinct.

Sections of Mount Alto North will be merged with Town Rome while other sections of Town Rome will be part of the Garden Lakes precinct.

According to Elections Supervision Akyn Trudnak, the move is being looked at due to the changing of demographics as well as ways to save taxpayer dollars.

The new prescient’s will go into effect in this November’s election.

Also, the elections board unanimously approved a resolution for the 2023 special purpose, local option sales tax referendum.

Rome, Floyd County and Cave Spring voters will cast ballots in the SPLOST referendum on November 7.
