Jewel Denise Hoskins, 27 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she acted as a law enforcement officer in order to obtain $1,500 from someone.
Reports said that Hoskins told the victim that she owed the money due to a failed court appearance. Hoskins told the victim that she could avoid being placed in jail if she paid the funds.
Hoskins is charged with theft by deception.
