Jared Barnard Jett Sr, 48 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he threatened to hit his 18 year-old son with a hammer.
Police added that Jett told his son that if he did not leave the home he was going to kill him.
The incident occurred in front of small children.
Jett is charged with cruelty to children in the 3rd degree and terroristic threats and acts.
