Joe Callaway Gibson, 71 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he robbed a woman of her cell phone at Evan’s store on Alabama Highway.
Reports said that after Gibson snatched the victim’s cellphone he placed it in his pants and then left the store.
Gibson is charged with robbery by sudden snatching and battery.
