On Monday, May 16, at approximately 9:45 P.M., officers with the Cartersville Police Department responded to the area of E. Church Street and Stonewall Street in reference to a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the arrestee, Richard Bagley, who was in front of Ameris Bank. When officers attempted to engage Mr. Bagley, he took off running through the parking lot, and then stopped, threw down his backpack, and pulled out a knife. Officers gave several commands to drop the knife, which Mr. Bagley did not follow. Officers deployed their TASER energy weapons two separate times without making a successful connection.

A K9 unit from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene, and once presented with the K9, Mr. Bagley threw down the knife and complied. Mr. Bagley was taken into custody at this point without further incident. Mr. Bagley was charged with the following: Aggravated Assault Against a Peace Officer, Obstruction (F), Obstruction x2 (M).
