On April 5, 2023 at about 7:00 am officers with the Rome Police Department were dispatched to a reported accident with injury near the Chic-Fil-A Restaurant on Shorter Avenue. Prior to arrival officers received more information that the incident was a shooting rather than an accident.
Initial investigation indicates that a male subject, identified as 56 year-old Anthony Wayne Green, shot and killed Cassie Lashae Davis, 39, before turning the gun on himself. Davis was sitting in her car at the time of the shooting. After being shot, Davis pushed the gas on her SUV before striking a power box and then going down a hill and onto Shorter Avenue.
Police said that the two had been involved in a domestic relationship.
The incident is not related to Chic-Fil-A but rather occurred on the property of the restaurant.
