Charles James McKissic, 70 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he shoved a woman on the bed and choked her.
Reports said that the victim suffered visible injuries to her neck from the attack, which occurred at a home on South Blanche Avenue.
Officers added that during the investigation, McKissic sought medical attention for mental health issues.
The incident occurred back on February 12th of this year.
McKissic is charged with aggravated assault.
