According to Calhoun Police, human remains were found this week near downtown Calhoun in a small wooded area just off Piedmont Street while a search was being conducted related a case of a missing person.

“We have spoken with relatives of a person that has been missing for several months, and we believe we have located and are working with the medical examiner to positively identify the remains,” Chief Tony Pyle said. 

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit was called in by local authorities to process the scene, and identification of the remains had not yet been made as of Thursday afternoon.
