According to Calhoun Police, a 15 year-old male was shot in the leg at the Calhoun Walmart late Saturday night in what authorities said could be gang-related violence.

The incident occurred between 10:30 and 11 pm at the store on W. Belmont Drive.

Calhoun Police Chief Tony Pyle added, “From what we’ve heard, he was part of an altercation with a group from Rome.”

Pyle added that the shooter left the scene before police arrived.

The victim was shot in a femoral artery and transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga where he underwent surgery.

As of Sunday morning, the victim was still alive
