The Adairsville Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that took place on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at about 8:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Blue Agave restaurant located at 15 Legacy Way in Adairsville.
Initial details emerged that a father and son had gotten in an argument in the restaurant that led out into the parking lot area. A few moments later the argument resulted in the father producing a pistol and shooting his son, causing injury to his forearm and abdomen. Both subjects were still on scene moments later when officers arrived on scene.
The father, Mr. Stanley Jarrett age 64 of Snow Springs Road Adairsville, was taken into custody. The pistol was recovered along with a spent shell casing that was found on the scene of the shooting. The victim, Mr. David Jarrett age 40 of Lakewood Drive Carrollton Ga., was transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome and taken directly into surgery. The victim is currently in the ICU in stable condition.
Stanley Jarrett was transported to Bartow County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during commission of a felony, Reckless Conduct, and Pointing a gun at another person.
