Nicholas Julian Arrant, 21 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he used his brother’s identity as his own when police found him in possession of marijuana.
Reports said that his brother learned of the actions when he was taken into custody for failing to appear in court for the charges. Police said that the innocent Arrant bother argued that he had no knowledge of the prior marijuana citation.
Officers then were able to use arrest video footage to discover that Nicholas Arrant was indeed the person arrested and that his brother was innocent.
Arrant is charged with first degree forgery, aggravated identity fraud, giving false information to police, possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license.
