A man who was hit and struck by a truck on 2nd Avenue in Rome has died as the result of the injuires. Reports said that 66 year-old David Floyd, Rome, was driving north when he struck 35 year-old Jacob Pepper, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Pepper was knocked over the bridge when he was found and then transported to Floyd Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Floyd also struck a Toyota Sienna before coming to rest against nearby trees. Floyd was taken to the hospital for treatment and another person Eliseo Lopez, who was in the Sienna, was also transported

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.


Rome Police said that a pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital on Thursday after being struck by a truck near Safe Lock and Key on 2nd Avenue.

Reports stated that the pedestrian had been struck on the bridge near Safe Lock and Key and was knocked under the bridge onto the path below.

Reports added that first responders performed CPR on the pedestrian before being rushed to Atrium Health Floyd.
