Logan Blake Pitts, 26 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he led police on a high-speed chase before physically attacking them while being taken into custody.
Reports said that Pitts was spotted crossing the center line of travel on Watson Street when officers attempted a traffic stop. He is then accused of running a red light before increasing speeds in an attempt to avoid arrest. Pitts then turned on Paris Drive where he struck a parked car.
Police said that after stopping, Pitts is accused of being unsteady on his feet and with slurred speech. Officers then learned that he had been driving on a suspended license.
Pitts then allegedly resisted arrest and kicked officers in the stomach while being placed in the patrol car.
He is charged with felony obstruction, driving on a suspended license, DUI, duty upon striking an unattended vehicle, attempting to elude police, failure to maintain a lane and failure to obey traffic control devices.
