Authorities confirmed the identity of a 48 Polk County woman who was shot two days before Christmas as that of Darnetha Chester Elliott.
Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd said that Elliott was shot and died as a result of her injuries. He added that his agency has requested the assistance of the GBI with the investigation and questioning of her husband.

Polk County Police confirmed that a woman has died after a shooting on Michael Boulevard in the Chubbtown area on Friday.
Reports said that authorities were dispatched to the area at 12:50 p.m.
Authorities added that it appears the incident occured during a domestic altercation between a couple.
Police have been questioning an unidentified man about the incident.
