A 30 year-old Cedartown man, Brandon Lamar Lyle, has been arrested and charged with the robbery and murder of another man during a home invasion at 1029 Hutto Road earlier this week.
Reports said that officers were dispatched to the home on Monday, where they found Antonio Johnson, 29, was a gunshot wound. He was life-flighted to Grady Hospital where he later died.
It was soon discovered that Lyle had stolen a car from the home after shooting Johnson and fled the scene.
While at the crime scene, police were dispatched to another home on Hutto Road in response to a burglary in progress. When they arrived on scene they saw Lyle armed with a gun inside the home.
After a brief struggle, officers were able to take Lyle into custody.
Lyle has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, home invasion, burglary, theft by taking, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, pointing a gun at another, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, hijacking a motor vehicle, and probation violation.
The GBI was requested by the Polk County Police Department to assist with the investigation, which is active and ongoing. Once the case is done, it will be given to the Polk County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution
