David William Edwards, of Calhoun, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty.

Reports said that the arrest came following a complaint was received from local animal control from the Georgia Department of Agriculture last week.

Edwards reportedly had a total of 23 animals (20 dogs and 3 cats) removed from his home on Summerfield Lane.

Reports said that that one of the dogs was euthanized after it was deemed too aggressive after biting an officer.

Reports added that officers sated that the smell of ammonia was so strong in the residence that protective gear had to be worn when entering.

Most of the animals were housed in kennels that were said to be small in size and stacked on each other.

Officers also observed multiple animals sitting/laying in their waste that appeared to have built up for some time.

Edwards faced similar charges in Cobb County back in 2017.
