Richard Garcia, 59 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he shoved his 84 year-old mother down on the couch and told her that she was going to watch him commit suicide.
Police added that Garcia then refused to allow the woman to call 911 for help.
Garcia is charged with battery, exploitation of the elderly and obstruction of law enforcement.
