James Timothy Moore Jr, 45 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he struck the wrist of another person with a headless axe handle.
Reports said that the victim suffered substantial visible injuries from the attack.
The incident occurred at a home on Wilkerson Road.
Moore is charged with battery and probation violation.
