Gary Ashtian Barner, 27 of Rome, was arrested at his home on Brookwood Avenue after reports said he punched his wife in the mouth during a dispute.
Reports added that the victim suffered visible injuries from the attack.
The incident also occurred in front of a small child.
Barner is additionally accused of taking the victim’s phone in an effort to prevent her from calling 911 for help.
Barner is charged with battery, cruelty to children in the 3rd degree and obstruction of a person making a 911 call.
