Starskay Lance Durrell, 44 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he left his lane of travel and struck a mailbox before hitting a ditch on Moran Lake Road.
Police said that Durrell proceeded to flee the scene.
Officers added that when Durrell was found to be in possession of marijuana and had been driving on a suspended license.
Durrell is charged with possession of marijuana, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane, duty upon striking a fixture and driving on a suspended license.
Hester Elaine Johnson, 46 of Rome, was also arrested for the incident. Police said that she tried to hinder the investigation by telling officers she was the actual driver.
She was charged with obstruction.
