Devin Ray Dockery, 30 of Ashburn, was jailed in Rome after reports said he stole a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser.
Police said that Dockery was loaned the vehicle but failed to return it after being asked to do so.
The car is valued at just over $1,700.
Dockery is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle and probation violation.
