William Matthew Coley Thornton, 34 of Rome, was arrested this week after violating the rules of being a sex offender.
Police said that Thornton failed to register his move from Morrison Campgound Road within the allotted time frame.
Thornton was convicted of statutory rape back in 2008.
Thornton is charged with failure to register as a sex offender.
