Franklin Tyrone Darby, 46 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he failed to care for a dog that was dying of heat stroke.
Reports stated that the animal was witnessed laying on the ground in 90-degree heat while Darby cut grass. Reports said that Darby was observed cutting grass around the animal while using his foot to roll the dog over as he continued to mow around it. The animal was found covered in grass clippings when animal control was notified. A necropsy said that the animal was having a heat stroke as Darby cut the grass.
Darby is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.
