The Rome News-Tribune notified subscribers this week that they will no longer be employing newspaper carriers, instead, they will be shipping papers via the US postal service.
According to a release, “The RNT is not immune to many of the market dynamics impacting business across the country. Hiring and retaining quality delivery drivers over the last 18 months have proven incredibly challenging, inflation pressures on compensation are making carrier delivery cost-prohibitive.”
According to Doug Crow, Vice President of Operations at the Rome News-Tribune, “Starting June 14, the Rome News-Tribune will be delivered to your home by the United States Postal Service.”
Crow added that on federal holidays the newspaper will be delivered a day early with the prior day’s edition.
A release went on to say that for 98 percent of subscribers the newspaper will be received on the day of issue, however, a small number of subscribers could see a delay in their newspaper.
