Rome Man Jailed for Beating up his Elderly Grandmother

Dakota Joseph Godfrey, 26 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he beat up his 78 year-old grandmother.

Reports said that Godfrey shoved the victim to the ground and then pulled her back up by her shirt.  The victim was left with visible injuries to her arm.

Godfrey then proceeded to break the victim’s window to her home with his head and face.

Authorities added that the woman was heard screaming for help and begging Godfrey to stop hurting her.

Godfrey is charged with battery, exploitation of an elderly or disabled person and 2^nd degree criminal damage to property.
