Jason Carl Carter, 41 of Lindale, was arrested this week after police said he attempted to strangle a woman to death before stealing her car.

Police said that on May 22 of this year Carter placed his hands around the throat of a 58-year-old woman and began to squeeze.

The victim was left with visible injuries to her neck.  He then allegedly stole her 2011 Chevrolet Cruz.

Police said that after being spotted by officers he led them on a high speed chase.

Carter is charged with aggravated assault, theft by taking a motor vehicle, fleeing police, speeding, passing in a no pass zone, stop sign violation, driving on the wrong side of the roadway and failure to maintain lane.
