A federal lawsuit had been filed against Floyd County Schools stating that the system failed to address racially motivated incidents at Coosa High School.

The lawsuit filed by five African-American students and their parents say that the system ignored complaints about repeated incidents involving racial intimidation and bigotry.

The families say that the school violated their First Amendment rights by forbidding the students to wear “Black Life Matters” shirts while permitting Confederate flag apparel.

Floyd County School Superintendent Dr. Glenn White is quoted to say, “Floyd County Schools looks forward to presenting the facts in court….as far as what actually happened.”
