Larry Wayne Smith III, 31 of Cedartown, was jailed in Rome after police said he terrorized a woman and two children by repeatedly pulling a gun on them while threatening their lives before beating them.

The victims all told police that Smith had committed the acts over a period of time, placing them in fear of their lives.

Two of the victims, ages 11 and 10 years, said that Smith would point the gun in their face while threatening to shoot them.

Reports went on to say that Smith locked one of the children in the bedroom, using a padlock on the outside where they could not get out.

Smith is also accused of hitting the children with a closed fist causing multiple injuries.  The child told authorities that they had to cover up the bruises before going to school.

The adult victim suffered a black eye and knots to her head.

Smith is also accused of taking the victim’s cellphone so that they could not call 911 for help.

While taking him into custody, police found Smith in possession of methamphetamine and a glass smoking device.

Smith is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of terroristic threats and acts, cruelty to children in the first degree, three counts cruelty to children in the third degree, two counts battery, possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and obstruction of a 911 call.
