Bartow County authorities confirmed that a body was found in a wooded area near the Hampton Inn in Adairsville.
Police had been dispatched to the location just after noon on Wednesday in response to a missing person report.
The complainant said that his son had been missing since Monday.
Officers then went to the Hampton Inn to review video surveillance, which prompted a search of a wooded area near the hotel.
Reports said that the dead body was found and the GBI and coroner were called.
The coroner identified the missing subject as 33-year-old Aaron Glenn Douglas Malone of Temple.
All preliminary evidence on the scene indicated an accidental fall may have been the cause of death.
Although no foul play was suspected, the Bartow County Coroner had decided to have an autopsy performed on the body at the state crime lab.
