The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Bartow County Board of Education Police Department announces the placement of a new speed detection camera system. According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, this system was installed by Altumint Group recently in the school zone area of the Mission Road Elementary School. The system will go live on Monday, February 21, 2022.

A recent traffic speed study in this area showed that there were an excessive amount of speed zone infractions during posted school hours that put students, faculty, and others at risk. The safety of students and school employees are our first priority when it comes to school zone
safety.

This system will only be operational during posted school hours and will not be active during times when students are not in school such as observed holidays and summer breaks. Speed violators will receive a citation in the mail and the penalties for speed violations will be $75.00
for the first offense and $125.00 for any subsequent offenses after the first. Each violation will also require payment of a $25.00 processing fee in addition to the fine.

School zone speed limits for this area are posted at 25MPH when the yellow lights are flashing, and 35MPH when the lights are not flashing.
Sheriff Millsap asks drivers to please slow down and help keep our children safe for this and all school zone areas in our community
