William Lonnie Kitchen, 38 of Rome, was arrested after police said he tossed a bag of meth from his car in an effort to hide the drugs from police.
Reports said that police were attempting to stop Kitchen for a seat belt violation when he accelerated and attempted to elude police.
During the chase, officers added that Kitchen tossed a bag (which was later found to have contained meth) out of the car window before finally pulling over.
A search of Kitchen also resulted in officers finding a glass smoking device and a bag of meth.
Kitchen is charged with possession of meth, tampering with evidence, abandonment of dangerous drugs, attempting to elude police, driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, operation of an unregistered vehicle, and a seat belt violation.
