A member of the Pepperell Elementary School PTO, Phyllis C Arrington, 49 of Silver Creek, was arrested this week after she was accused of stealing over $6,000 in funds.
Reports said that between 2017 and 2021 Arrington wrote multiple checks to herself from the PTO account while acting as the treasurer.
Police added that Arrington signed the checks with the name of a retired treasurer, who denied any knowledge of the checks.
Arrington also worked for Floyd County Schools while the thefts were going on.
Arrington is charged with felony theft by taking of government property.
