A traffic stop for an expired registration resulted in felony drug and weapon charges for 48 year-old Jason Nathaniel Pope.

Reports said that Pope was stopped on GA 101 at Isbell Road when officers noticed that his car registration had expired.  While speaking with Pope, officers said they noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A consented search then led officers to find suspected methamphetamine in his front pant pocket, a bag of marijuana under the car seat and a firearm.

Pope is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and operation of an unregistered vehicle.
