The Varsity restaurant has set its eyes on Spider Webb Drive, the current home of Dairy Queen, for its Rome location.

According to plans filed at the Rome/Floyd Planning Department Tuesday.

The Dairy Queen will remain in business until the property closes sometime in February.

According to Rome City Commissioner Craig McDaniel, the Varsity has plans to open a location within the city limits.

McDaniel said that the company has not revealed its location as of yet, but is expected to within the next few days.

McDaniel also works for Toles, Temple and Wright and is the agent for the Varsity.   The ownership group is expected to go in front of the city’s Board of Adjusters before the location is announced.

The Varsity has also said that they are planning on opening a location in Cartersville.
