Steven Emanuel King, 37 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attempted to strangle a woman to death.
Police said that the victim was left with marks and scratches to her neck from the attack.
The incident occurred at a home on Nelson Street in Silver Creek.
King is charged with aggravated assault.
