Jeff Eugene White, 27 of Conyers, was jailed in Rome after reports said he had sexual conversations, which included him sending ten graphic photos, with someone he thought was a child under the age of 16 years.
Reports said he also asked the victim for sexual photos in return.
He is also accused of describing sexual acts he wished to perform on the minor.
White is charged with two counts sexual exploitation of a child, obscene internet contact with a child and ten counts electronically furnishing obscene materials to a child.
