Preston Kenneth Cheatwood, 29 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attempted to murder a woman outside the Fairbridge Inn on Martha Berry Blvd while wearing his boxers.
Reports said that Cheatwood began to scream and yell before placing his arms around the victim’s neck “with the intent to murder her”.
Reports added that Cheatwood proceeded to hit the victim repeatedly in the head.
Officers stated that she was left with visible injuries to her neck, nose, face and arms.
He is charged with aggravated assault, battery, disorderly conduct and public drunk.
