Corun Jaron Sellars, 33 of Rome, was jailed this week after reports said he hit a female in the head with his fist during an altercation on Lindsey Road.
Police added that while attempting to take him into custody Sellars fled on foot in an attempt to escape capture.
Sellars is charged with battery and two counts obstruction.
